What is acceptable usage of this board?
While the board is intended to be focused on British Columbia, animals in other regions have occasionally
been helped through networking that started on this board. So, limited posts about animals in other regions,
if they are urgent or may be easily helped from BC, are okay. However, the focus should remain in BC as
much as possible.
Since this is a rescue board, posts advertising animals for sale will not be tolerated. The same goes for any
posts searching for unfixed animals for breeding purposes.
For more information on the use of this board see the Terms of Use.
Back to top Is this board moderated?
The exception is the "guest" and "anon" user accounts which have known passwords and can be used by anyone. These accounts are moderated, meaning posts will not show up until the moderator has approved them. However, even in this case it is possible that an offensive post may slip through.
Therefore, you are using the board at your own risk, so please remember to take all necessary precautions
when using information posted here. As always, please screen potential homes very carefully before placing a rescued pet.
For more information on the legal meaning of using an unmoderated board, see the
Terms of Use.
Back to top How do I create a profile?
There you will see some fields to fill out. The first is "Name" which should be the nickname you want to
post under. The second is "Email". It is very important that you type in a valid e-mail address which you
have access to, because your preliminary password will be sent to this address! Then is a text field
in which can describe a bit about yourself. The Profile can also contain (optionally) a link or a picture if
you like. Click the "Save Profile" button to save this information and have your password e-mailed to you!
Back to top Why should I create a profile? Back to top I created a profile, now it keeps telling me "Invalid Password" when I try to post!
What's going on? See How do I change my password? for more information.
Back to top How do I change my password? See I can't find the "Edit Profile" link. What's going on? if you can't find the
"Edit Profile" link.
If you click on the "Edit Profile" link you will see the information that you originally filled out when
you created your profile. You can edit your profile there. On the bottom
of the form you will see a box called "Password" where you must enter your current password.
Underneath that are two other boxes where you can enter your new password (twice to be sure
there are no typos)... and your password will be changed.
This board was created as a forum for discussing Pet Rescue in British Columbia, Canada. Posts of
available animals and homes looking for animals are very appropriate. Transportation of rescue animals,
fund-raising, rescue-related events, foster home requests, and discussion of any rescue-related topic is
good, as long as it done in a polite and respectful manner.
No, in general the board is not moderated. Anyone may post as long as they
register a profile. A few offensive words are censored by the software.
Otherwise posts will appear on the board AS IS. I do not have any control over what is posted until
after the fact, and since I do not read every single post or monitor the board 24/7, offensive or
inappropriate posts may be missed. In addition, I can make no guarentees about any of the information on
this board or the intentions of posters.
On the main index page above the "Welcome" message, there is a navigation bar with lots of links.
Towards the right-hand side of this bar is a link to "Create a Profile".
You will need to create a profile to post on the board.
There are some other advantages as well. With a profile you can
"reserve" your username so that nobody else can post using it.
And perhaps the most important advantage is that your profile will be visible to
other users. So, for example, if you post something and somebody who is reading starts wondering,
"Who is poster XXX anyway?" then they can look in your profile, see "Oh, they do Mexican Hairless rescue"
or whatever, and in addition, maybe follow the links to check out your webpage... etc.
When you create a profile, a preliminary password will be sent out to the e-mail address you register.
The next time you want to post using the nickname you have created, you must use that password.
After that, you will be able to change your password using the "Edit Profile" link in the navigation bar.
