01.28.2003 09:05am - Site Update: PHP

Comments (3)

I guess I am behind the times. But last night I finally updated the whole brindleweb site (excluding the rescue site) to use PHP for all the main files. This allows me to use template (include) files for the common stuff like the header and footer, instead of having to cut & paste the same thing into all my HTML files. So, there may be some broken links or out-of-date bookmarks now. Let me know if you see any problems!

Yeah...you don't want to screw around with cutting and pasting HTML all over the place...you need to use a template engine, roll your own from PHP (or Perl if you want, or C, or C++ or Python....), or EVEN BETTER go with a *cool* CMS engine like MT...nice pick!

Lots of features and tons of support out there...

Templating engine? Sounds complicated. I just used "include" statements in my php files & a set of template files to include.

Yeah MT allows you to do the same thing basically, create a template & use it throughout with a sort of "include" line.
