12.02.2002 11:32am - Loooooong Weekend

Comments (4)

American Thanksgiving was on Thursday (Nov 28). So this was a 4-day weekend here in the States. Our director gave us Wednesday off too, so we had a 5-day weekend - yippee! We have never been off for that long without planning a trip back to Canada, but this one kinda snuck up on us. What to do for 5 days in Texas? We decided to stick relatively close to home to save money.

On Wednesday we did some Christmas shopping. Which was good timing because Friday is "THE BIG SHOPPING DAY" here in Dallas so we didn't want to be out in that. On Thursday we did housework and ate Thanksgiving Dinner with Rick, Lori, Logan and Jordan - the 2nd time this year. Celebrating two countries' sets of holidays is fun. Then on Friday we set out on a State Park / Mountain Biking tour in the RV.

Friday we biked at Cleburne State Park with Big Gulp and a friend of his, Lorri. On Saturday we biked (and also did some hiking) at Dinosaur Valley State Park. On Sunday we met Big Gulp again and his girlfriend Tracey at Cedar Hill State Park and biked there. Then we came home and lay on the couch all night... uhhhh... legs feel like dead weight...

Big Gulp? Who the hell has a name like Big Gulp?!?

Sue, glad to see you on the 'blog! Next time you come to visit Dallas we must have Big Gulp demonstrate his big-gulping abilities for you. You've got to chant, "Hey Big Gulp, how'd you get your name?" and then he will show you... hee hee.

Nice work! I too celebrated American Thanksgiving. Nothing as grand as yours, but nice nonetheless.
