11.25.2002 10:26am - The Breaks at Bar H

This weekend we went to The Breaks at Bar H, a mountain biking ranch. What a concept! This place is a family-owned ranch (1100 acres) where they have dispensed with the cattle and the usual ranch-stuff - instead they have a network of mountain biking trails, which they charge a small fee to use, plus camping & RV sites! Wow!

We went out Saturday in the RV, camped, and rode every single trail they have (except "sidewinder" which was closed). We night-rode Saturday night too. On Sunday morning we did "Devil's Backbone" which is the hardest trail we've encountered in TX - unfortunately it's mostly hard because of ultra-cardio uphill, not so much skill or big drops or anything.

This was our 3rd time at Bar H. It is about 1.5 hours drive from Dallas. It is so fun though, we'll have to try to get out there more often. In other news, we watched the Grey Cup last night with Rick & Lori & kids, and now have a very short week because American Thanksgiving is on Thursday. Thursday and Friday are holidays and our director gave us all Wednesday off too so we have a very long weekend coming up! We haven't decided yet how we will spend it.
