10.14.2002 01:44pm - Ted's New Bike

Comments (3)

Hi! The big news for this week is... Ted finally got his new bike! He has been researching for about 2 weeks or so, test riding a few, looking on Ebay for good deals, etc. And finally lost his patience and just went down to the local bike shop (Plano Cycling & Fitness) and bought a 2003 Cannondale Jekyll 1000 (he got the grey color). Full Suspension and disk brakes. Sweeeeeet.

He bought the bike Saturday around 5pm. We took it for a quick ride around some neighborhood trails that evening. On Sunday it got its first real ride on the Northshore Trail at Grapevine Lake (we went with Rick and Lori). It was our first time on that trail, which was okay - mostly boring with a few small more intense sections. Ted is very pleased with it so far. I am very happy for him. And now we definitely plan to spend all winter riding and NOT playing ultimate, so that's cool.

In related news... I stripped his old bike of the XTR V-brakes we bought and put them on my bike. I also have a new stem on my bike (Kore Elite 1.5" d, 120mm x 5degree). New lighter tubes are coming in the mail, and I am thinking of getting into wheel-building and making myself some nice light wheels. So my bike is doing just fine and I still love it. For info and pics of my bike (a 1997 Cannondale Killer-V 900 HT in black), click here. I keep that page updated with all my components and which ones I've swapped out & stuff.

About the Northshore trail at Grapevine... we have since found that the trail gets a lot more technical later on and is actually one of the better trails we have found in the Dallas area - it's just the beginning half that is boring.
