Hi Readers (Ted, Coreman, and ... all the rest of you many Janice fans... I know you're out there)
Well, we had a very very fun weekend. Either drunk or hungover at all times. Just getting over the hangover in time to drink again. Crazy. Andrew Carr was visiting us from the UK (via Vancouver where he is visiting other friends for two weeks). We brought him to our usual Thursday-night pub hangout at the Blarney Stone, and then on Friday we went to Oktoberfest in Addison, and then all day Saturday we celebrated Wayne's birthday with a Bob Marley festival, sushi at Piranha in Arlington, and then the Blarney Stone again.
It was also really fun to get "back in touch" with the strange kind of comedy that Andrew likes best: absolutely ridiculously nonsensical humour. Usually this is Brit Comedy like Monty Python or the newer more obscure stuff he got us watching in 2000 - wacky news show The Day Today or rapper-interviewer Ali G. This trip, however, his newest strange comedy was actually an American show, shown on HBO: Mr. Show starring Bob Odenkirk and David Cross. Like most of Andy's comedy this stuff is sometimes painfully stupid... but sometimes unbelievably hilarious! The best thing was this musical they did of the travelling salesman joke... we are going to have to buy the DVD I guess. If you get a chance I definitely recommend checking it out, especially Season 1 Episode 2: "What to Think" (this is the one with the musical). Here is a link to where you can buy the DVD, it is on Amazon, hopefully the link will work: Mr Show on Amazon.com.
Well, that's all for this morning! I still have a lot of work to do on the web page and customizing the blog, so I'd better get on that.
