We have made it back from Mexico only to find Dallas caught in the grips of a nasty ice storm! Our flight only barely made it in last night before the airport was shut down. It was pretty hardcore as we only had our summer clothes. Brrrr.

We spent 40 minutes sitting in our plane on the DFW tarmac waiting for a gate to free up. Which was actually pretty good, we heard stories of people waiting 2 hours! Then the drive home took us over an hour as the streets were a sheet of ice. Today work is cancelled, which is really nice - I wasn't looking forward to getting up and going to work this morning.

Mexico was awesome! I had a much better time than last time we went (in 1998). Nobody got sick, nobody got cheated out of their money, our all-inclusive resort was in good shape, and I didn't see half so many sad scrawny stray dogs (which is kind of worrisome in itself... where did they GO?)

We spent some time in Playa del Carmen, I really like that town. We went to Cozumel and rented scooters and went snorkeling. We tried kayaking, windsurfing, and had a scuba lesson in the pool. We saw lots of cool fish, lizards, and crabs. All in all it was just a really fun time.

Now it's time to gear up for Mardi Gras! Our friends Sean and Tina are flying in tonight. No rest for the wicked... :)
