04.22.2003 04:42pm - Ski Weekend

Comments (2)

I haven't had a chance to write about it yet, but last weekend Ted and I decided to slip in one more quick ski trip for the year. We headed to Breckenridge, Colorado. It was beautiful and wintery there and we had a really good time.

We were really torn between skiing and snowboarding (we have only tried snowboarding once, last Christmas, and are eager to learn). We decided, though, that being at a new mountain we should ski so that we could see more of the mountain. And that we did - we went all over that mountain and tried tons of runs! We were glad we didn't board because the snow at the bottom on the bunny slopes (where we would have been hanging out) was very icy, whereas up on the top T-bar (where it was all black diamond runs) the snow was great.

We had fun in the town, too, it was so cute as ski towns always are. We also got to explore the countryside a little and found lots of beautiful and interesting places along our drive to and from Denver. Such as, a highway high in the mountains where people ski and board right off the side of the highway - and with their dogs no less - we saw a husky chasing his owner on a snowboard and he was loving it! Maki would love it too. We also saw a really interesting old graveyard, some bighorn sheep, and an old historic mining town out in the middle of nowhere where all these huge Vegas-style casinos have been built!

Now time to get ready for summer...

Sounds like a blast guys. I love Colorado myself but have yet to ski it. Kelly has skied it and loved it.
