We have known about this for a few weeks, but it was just officially announced on Thursday so I thought I'd announce it here too... Ted has a new job! He is still working for Nortel (and in fact for now he is even sitting in the same cubicle and all that). But he is now a PLM (Product Line Manager). This means he is not in R&D anymore, but will instead be interfacing with the customer and steering the direction of our new products, etc. In other words he will now be supplying the high level requirements to R&D.
He has really been wanting to move on to something "different" for quite a while, so he is very happy about this. It has put his plans to get his MBA and stuff like that on hold. He wanted to do his MBA to help himself "move up" and get a management type job, but now he is there already! So that is good news (I am certainly happy we don't have to go through a couple years of him studying and all that).
His manager and the majority of his new team is located in France. (I said, "Does this mean we can move to France???" but unfortunately it seems they want him here, for now). His major customer account will be in Seattle. So he may get to travel a bit more with this job (I think I will have to accompany him whenever possible!).
So anyway, congratulations Ted!
That is the major news from here. We had a fairly quiet weekend, but we did play tennis, go to the driving range (my drives are about 50% good right now which is definitely an improvement), and see a couple movies. We saw the new X-Men, it was pretty kick-ass. And on Sunday we saw "Bend It Like Beckham" which was really nice, cute, funny.

Awesome!! Well done Ted!
Although the fact that you are management now scares me a little! ;=)
