We took an RV roadtrip to Austin this weekend. It's always fun to go there, it's a really neat city. I like it a lot better than Dallas. Why couldn't Nortel have their Texas campus in Austin instead? :(
We parked the RV in a little RV park just over the bridge from downtown. There were tons of little restaurants and coffeeshops within walking distance. A sure sign of a more "liberal" city - every restaurant we tried had multiple delicious vegetarian selections - even the local "hamburger joint". There were also two dogparks close by - one a 5 minute drive and the other about a 10 minute walk. So Tigger and Maki had a very fun time. They especially enjoyed swimming/wading in Barton Springs, a "cool spring". All in all it was a really fun weekend getaway.
When we came home, we started taking the RV apart! We are going to attempt some home repairs! I'm pretty nervous about that. For those that know RVs, we have a C-class. This is the type with overhang over the driver's seat, an extra bunk up there. A known problem with C-classes (NOT known by us before we bought it!) is that the overhang tends to rot and sag after a while. An RV repair place quoted us $5000 to fix it. So, Ted decided to tackle it himself. Yikes. We start last night taking it all apart up there so we can replace the wood that is rotted. No, we've never done anything like it before. I'd say it'll be a while before we take another trip in the RV. Right now it has a big hole in the front end and is sitting in the driveway covered by a tarp! I hope we don't have any storms!
