Well, the only news from this week is that we are now deep into our RV construction project. It is going pretty well. At this point I think we have taken apart everything we need to. We are taking pictures of it at every stage - mostly so that we can look back at it when we are putting it back together and see how things went. To look at the photos so far go to the RV Work Gallery. We plan to keep updating it as we go.
We have taken apart the whole front end of the RV, basically. The whole "Cab Over" (I found out that was the official name for that part over the cab on a C-class RV). We took out the floor (that was pretty hard) and then just kept taking things off until we had gotten rid of all the rotted wood. I was very nervous that we would break something that we couldn't repair, but so far we haven't. I don't think we have, anyway.
Now that we are starting to get to the point where we could put things back together, the biggest challenge seems to be, finding the materials. We thought it was all standard stuff, actually I still think it is, but it's just that nobody seems to sell that stuff to the public. I mean, certain sizes of weather stripping, styrofoam insulation that is 1.5" thick, the type of panelling used on the interior walls, etc. All RV shops have these things, but they use them to do the work themselves - they don't sell them. Home Depot and Lowe's don't have this stuff. It's a bit frustrating! We may have to do strange things like, buy thinner styrofoam and laminate it together to get the right thickness. I hope that doesn't compromise the quality of the job! Well, we haven't given up looking for this specialized stuff yet. If anyone knows anything about where to get this stuff, please let me know!
Anyway, so far so good. We are looking forward to having a stronger, well-built front end and being proud that we did it ourselves! But I expect there will be more 'blog entries about this because we have been at it a week already and we are not near finished.

Wow! That is quite a RV job you've started! Yikes! Hope it works out and you get it all back together!
Looking forward to seeing you in Virginia on Saturday! Sorry Ted can't come along!
See you soon! Four more sleeps!
