07.28.2003 08:51am - RV Progress!

Comments (2)

I think we spent every night last week working on the RV, and all day Saturday, and some of the day Sunday. It is really coming along though! We are now in the "putting it back together" phase and it's going pretty well, so we are feeling excited and optimistic about that.

Last week we cut out all the pieces for the frames, the paneling, and all that. Ted had already put the floor/bed of the cab-over together while I was away last week.

On Friday afternoon we rented a pneumatic staple gun (because that's how the frame was put together last time) and built up the frames. On Saturday, Dan came over and helped us put the bed back into the cab-over. That was the hardest thing we have done yet I think, just because the thing is so big and HEAVY, and had to be placed precisely in a tight-fitting spot. But, we got it in there and it looks good!

Now that is done, the rest seems like it should go pretty smoothly. We are really hoping that we will have it all back together and sealed up in the next couple of days, since we are going to Vancouver soon and don't want to leave it all taken apart while we are gone.

We have taken some more pictures but I didn't get a chance to put them up yet. I'll try to do that soon.

Hey Coreman, yeah our level of connectivity was pretty impressive at Tofino this year. For those that weren't there, we were able to use our laptop and a dial-up connection for Corey to do some debugging (and blogging) remotely. We tried to use the bluetooth adapter and my GPRS phone to get a wireless connection... now that would have been COOL... but I couldn't get it working, I think because I was roaming in Rogers. Overall though, I was surprised and impressed to find that there was pretty good GSM/GPRS coverage all over BC - even out in Tofino and up on Silverstar Mountain in Vernon. I had my phone set up so that I could do some administration tasks for my Pet Rescue bulletin board remotely, so I used it LOTS. Hmmm, but I'm not looking forward to seeing my roaming bill. :(
