08.25.2003 10:50am - Busy Weekend

This weekend we were so busy with fun stuff and working around the house. Now I've been back at work for about 2.5 hours and I already feel like the week has been too long. I guess that's what happens when you don't get much rest on the your days off. Here's a quick recap of the weekend...

Friday night was Vanessa's birthday dinner at The Metropolitan downtown, followed by "hanging out" at Danny's new house on Cedar Springs.

On Saturday we got up early to take the dogs to the dogpark before it got hot, went grocery shopping, went furniture shopping (we bought a new entertainment center / TV stand for our family room), worked on the RV for a bit, and went out for dinner with Thuy, Sinh, and Steven (who is 3 months old now and still super-cute, I have put some updated pictures up on his gallery).

On Sunday morning we got up early to go mountain biking at Erwin Park before it got hot. It was our first time going in months! I thought I would be out of shape and wimpy, but surprisingly I did really well and was able to finish the whole trail (usually when I restart after a long hiatus I have to work up to it a bit). Then we spent the rest of the day doing housework, working on the RV (which is almost finished, we're just working on sealing it all up really well), and putting together our new entertainment center. We cheaped out a bit and bought a veneer one (not real wood) so it was all in pieces and had to be assembled. We've been looking a long time to find one that could fit all our components, would fit well in the room, and stuff like that. This is the best one we've seen. Maybe in a few years when Ted gets his big "plasma TV" and all that stuff he wants, then we'll get a nice real-wood one and this one will end up in the rec room or something (assuming by then we have a house with a rec room).

We were up late assembling that and then moving all the stereo components into it. It's still not finished so I guess we'll be doing some more of that tonight.
