10.27.2003 03:14pm - Hallowe'en Parties

Lots of partying this weekend. It's funny how some weekends there's nothing going on and then suddenly everything happens at once. In this case it is probably understandable because it was a bunch of Hallowe'en parties that were going on.

Sorry to report that we are "party poopers" and didn't have costumes. I know that sucks. But it just kind of snuck up on us that Hallowe'en was so close, and I'm never very good at coming up with costume ideas anyway.

Saturday we went to the annual costume parade on Cedar Springs. There we visited our friends' tailgate party, met lots of fun and interesting people, saw our friend dressed up in drag for the first time, and wound it all up with lots of fun and dancing at the Village Station.

Although it was late after that, Ted and I decided to drop in on the other party we'd been invited to, at a pub with the Ultimate/Hash crowd. We only got to stay there a little while before it shut down, but that was fun too!

My favorite costume: hard to say. We saw some really neat silver aliens, a very funny version of the "Wizard of Oz" gang complete with a very manly Dorothy who smoked a cigar, assorted werewolves, goblins, and other scary characters. It was all good but nothing really stands out as "the best".

My least favorite costume: I saw several people who had the bright idea of dressing up as "Roy Horn" (did anyone even know that poor guy's last name before this all happened?), with a white tiger hanging off them. Maybe it's my sense of humor but I just didn't find that funny.

Anyway, two parties already and Hallowe'en isn't even here yet! I think there is more stuff going on during the week and next weekend. Should we try to come up with emergency costumes or just let it slide this year? Not sure....
