As I was saying in the last entry, we had 2 weeks off for Christmas. The first week was spent touring around West Texas and New Mexico as I described. The second week we actually got to spend at home, probably one of our first times with so much free time at home since we moved here!
We took the opportunity to do a lot of work around the house. Ted, in particular, was very productive! Now the pool has been transformed from a green swamp back to a blue oasis. The garage is cleaned out enough so that we can actually park our car in it. We got rid of a lot of our old junk by either taking it to the dump if it was really junk, or putting it in storage if we still wanted to keep it.
The big thing we're working on right now at home is the office or den. There is a really nice room at the front of our house with french doors and a big window, that is supposed to be an office. Since we moved in, we have been using it as a work-out room because it was the only room big enough to store our weight set. However, we haven't been using that weight set too much (not that we haven't been getting exercise, just in other ways). So we put it in storage and started working on fixing up the room to be a real office. First we painted it. Then we ripped up the carpet. We plan to put the same flooring as we put down in the living room (see my entry about it here), the Pergo Prodigy. This time we're going to do it right and level out the concrete first, etc. So we're slowly working on that. In the meantime we're also working out other cool plans, like what kind of office furniture to get, and also getting docking stations and monitors for our laptops.
As usual we forgot to take the "before" pictures, but we'll definitely take the "after" pictures. It's going to be a cool room!
