01.12.2004 11:01am - Tofurky!

Comments (4)

At Christmas we bought a tofurky in case we needed to add something veggie-friendly to the menu at some Christmas feast. However, we never did use it. So we cooked it up yesterday. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm happy to report that it was really, really good!

We cooked a whole feast - the tofurky was cookied in foil with a bunch of veggies and an apricot glaze. We also had a squash casserole and buns. It was a nice treat to have gravy too - I guess I haven't had gravy since "going veggie" but we bought "tofurky giblet" gravy to go with the roast and it was quite good. The tofurky had a really yummy stuffing inside of it too, and I'm not even a big stuffing fan, but this stuff was moist and garlicy, and very good. I even made my mom's apple crisp recipe for dessert.

We had Wayne (another vegetarian) over to share the feast and we all ended up very stuffed. So, I am happy to report, that I am now a tofurky fan! :)

Good for you! Can you tell me where you purchased the Tofurky? I'd really like to give it a try.

Hi Paula! I bought the tofurky at Whole Foods Market, a really great organic/natural/healthfood grocery store in Plano, TX ( http://www.wholefoods.com/ ). However, the tofurky company also sell them online at their website http://www.tofurky.com , and they did have retailers listed in Canada here: http://www.tofurky.com/purchase/international.htm . Hopefully you can find somewhere close to you. Good luck!
