05.18.2004 05:32am - Sleepless in Allen

Comments (4)

It's 5:20 or so in the morning here... for the last week or so I've been having a lot of trouble getting a full night's sleep. But I still don't feel too tired during the day so I guess it's not a problem.

Usually I fall asleep just fine in the evening. Then around 2 or 3am something wakes me up (maybe my poor squished bladder, baby kicks, some noise?) and then I'm WIDE AWAKE for the rest of the night. Most times I lie in bed just thinking about stuff (work, the baby coming, weekend plans, etc). This morning I decided to just get up as I've been complaining about "not enough time in the day" to get everything done. If I started each day around 4-5am I bet I'd have lots more time to get stuff done!

So now I'm logging in to work to get some extra things done... I'll have to make sure to send some emails to impress my manager. :)

Hi Janice,

Aziz here. You know I am so busy during the day at work, I thought I would write to you now. My wife and I have a cute little girl (2 yeras old) and Bouchra (my wife) thinks that the sleepless nights are mother nature's way of getting you use to the real sleepless nights you will have when the baby is born.

It is nice to see you and Ted are still together and going strong. So who are you working with in Texas, Nortel? I use to work for a company called Marconi Wireless there on Campbell and N. Collins in Richardson.

Check out my website, it is no where near as nice or up to date as yours - it was mostly used as a medium to show pics to family members. Actually I have a few:

www.geocities.com/aaraji (this has not been updated in around 3 years!!!)

photos.yahoo.com/babyreemo2002 (this is an online photo album of my daughter mostly just to keep the grandparents happy)

As you can see, I am too lazy to actually have a decent webpage - I use the freebies on geocities and stuff.

I work for a company called Actix - we make software for the wireless telecom industry.

OK, catch up with ya later - whip me a quick email let me know how things are going.

Very nice website!!!

Hey Aziz,

Thanks for your message. It is great to hear from you after all this time! That's one pretty cool thing about having a website (especially one that google can find), people do surf on in and get back in touch every now and then. I will email you back.

Other people have said that about the sleepless nights too... but honestly I'd prefer to wait until I *have* to, to start staying up all night. :)

Your websites are nice - your daughter is adorable, your wife looks gorgeous, and it seems like you've been having a lot of fun! I'm so happy for you. You should keep the sites updated though! :p

Later,
Janice

Hey , I know the waking up early routine though obviously err not from the same perspective.

Humm hours in a day and getting it all done....well it never happens coz as soon as you think your near caught up , more comes along ;-)

That is very true with new arrivals so you kind of pick the time do the mundane stuff and then always make sure you have time for the good stuff.

*chuckle* The perspective on work usually changes when the home responsibilities change and new priorities come along. I think this is a good thing , or has been for me for the most part ,m though I did need a break to realize this.

Hi Guy, I bet with the twins there were (probably still are) lots of early morning and sleepless nights at your place! :)

As for too few hours in a day and too much to do... it seems to me I can only keep so many things on track at once, probably about the top 3 high priority items in my life. Highest priority is always the other "living things" that depend on me - so, feeding the pets and caring for them must ALWAYS get done, no matter what else is going on. Also in that category these days is taking care of myself (eating well, etc) to make sure the "belly bean" is healthy. Other things on the list are: my exercise routine, work, taking care of the house, taking care of the yard, etc. These things seem to switch around priority depending on state of mind, how long I've let them lag, and so on. But there are always things falling off the bottom of the priority list. :(

Don't worry - Ted and I do always make sure we have time for the "good stuff". :)
