Jeff, Tanya, and Austin just left yesterday after a 1-week stay in Dallas. We are really glad they got to come down and visit, and meet Peyton. However, I have to say, the visit was... umm... eventful.
The first few days were great. We took Austin to the playground and the toystore. Peyton was greatly entertained by all the guests and Austin was sweet and gentle with her. The adults were happy to get together, shop, and eat good food.
Then Austin got sick. We thought, just a cold. However, after 2.5 days of being laid up at home with no improvement, we took him to a clinic. They got all worried because his blood oxygen was too low and ended up transfering him to the hospital via ambulance, where they diagnosed him with the beginnings of pneumonia! The poor child had to endure oxygen masks, needles, and lots of medicine before finally being released. Luckily he got better quickly after that.
Unfortunately my immune system isn't the best these days and I ended up with sniffles and stuff as well. It lasted about 3 days and I'm much better now. However, now poor Peyton is experiencing her first cold too - runny nose and coughing. She has stayed in good spirits in spite of it so I don't think she is too miserable. However, we're keeping our eye on her in case she needs a doctor visit also.
Having two kids around was quite a handful. It seems to me that four adults to handle two kids was just about right, and it would be difficult to do it with any less! I guess Jeff and Tanya will soon find out as they have #2 on the way!
We were sad to see them go and are looking forward to our next get-together - which will most likely be in the spring sometime.
