Ted's dad is recovering from a scary bout with... general medical ickyness! He went to the hospital a week ago with a strange blood clotting problem and ended up being very sick, but he seems to be on a slow road to recovery now, thank goodness.

He got air-ambulanced to Vancouver and Ted went up there to visit for a few days and keep his mom company. Things were looking very serious at that point but while Ted was up there his dad's condition started improving.

It turns out he had "TTP" which stands for Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura, which is a problem with blood platelets. He was having heart, kidney, and lung problems too and had to be on life support! Very scary. I guess we still don't know if there was an underlying cause, or why this happened so suddenly in an otherwise healthy person. But yikes!

Anyway, we are very very relieved that he is improving. He got the breathing tubes out last night, and Ted came home. Apparently he will have to stay in the hospital for quite a while though, maybe 3 weeks or so. We are crossing our fingers that the rest of the recovery is smooth sailing!
