Just to let everyone know how Peyton is doing.... she's doing great! Yesterday was her 7 month "birthday". I put up new pictures last week so check them out!
At Peyton's 6 month doctor's appointment she weighed 17lbs 6oz (75th percentile) and was 27.5" long (90%). When I weighed her yesterday she was 18.4 lbs, so she's doing lots of growing.
She outgrew the length restriction on her infant carseat/carrier so we had to move to a new carseat. We got a "convertible" one so she can still sit backwards for now, as the experts say that's the safest. It was very inconvenient to give up the carseat/carrier since we just used to carry her in that into stores and restaurants - now we have to unbuckle her to take her in anywhere. Also, when she first grew out of the carseat she wasn't sitting up steadily enough to sit in restaurant highchairs, so we had to carry her old carrier with us anyway so we'd have somewhere to put her in the restaurants. Luckily that phase was very short - now she sits up in the highchairs no problem. The very worst thing about giving up the infant carrier/carseat, though, was that the car used to be a very good way to get her to fall asleep, and when she did fall asleep in there we could carry the carseat right into the house and let her sleep in it. However, we have not been successful at unbuckling her from the new carseat and carrying her into the house without waking her. So when she really needs a nap and falls asleep in the car, I end up sitting out the garage with her. Sigh.
She's not an easy sleeper. I always thought we'd have the kind of baby you could tote around everywhere and she'd just sleep when she needed to. But, we have to work hard to get Peyton to sleep almost every time, and she wakes up at the slightest disturbance. And, she usually only naps for 45 minutes at a time, EXACTLY, it's amazing how accurate she is.
She's not scared of strangers yet, although she does notice more now when she's being held by someone different. If she's not in the mood for it she does reach out for Mommy or Daddy.
She has one tooth now, on the bottom front. It showed up on February 20th, but since then, we've seen no sign of any other ones. She has started on solid foods and has eaten cereal, carrots, bananas, apples, and peas. She's not really thrilled about any of it. She is thrilled about drinking water, and will drink it out of a regular cup, sippy cup, or cup with a straw - although she needs help and also likes to dip her hands in the water.
Peyton can sit up very steadily now, and pull up to standing on our hands (but has not tried on the furniture or anything yet). She is not crawling or anything, although, she does roll and scoot enough that you can't depend on her staying where you put her any more. She likes to scratch her nails on things (and pinch, and pull hair, unfortunately). She can do more and more with her little hands these days. It is amazing to watch her learn new things almost daily.
Most times she is a very smiley happy baby. She loves to play peek-a-boo and jump in her jolly jumper. I think she's at a very fun stage right now. But then, every stage she's been going through has been more and more fun so we're looking forward to whatever comes next!
