08.08.2006 02:19pm - Fun in Ontario

We just had an 8 day visit from Ted's mom and sister during which we stayed in Ontario and had lots of fun. We spent about 4 days in Ottawa, 2 days in Sarnia, and 2 days traveling to and from Sarnia (it's a 7 hour drive).

In and around Ottawa we did the usual touristy things like the Byward Market, the Parliament Buildings, the Museum of Civilization, etc. We also did the Hershey Chocolate factory in Smiths Falls, which was a new one for me. It was pretty neat, and had a shop where you could buy chocolate that is cheaper and fresher than usual... yum!

In Sarnia we had a good visit with Ted's extended family. We stayed with Aunt Sandy and Uncle Fred again, and Peyton had a great time at the beautiful beach on Lake Huron.

Our guests left on Sunday but we still had one day off since yesterday was the "Civic Holiday" in Ontario. We took Peyton canoeing on Lac La Peche which was great fun. She was really good sitting in the canoe and seemed to enjoy it.

Today it's "back to the grind". Ted is back at work, and tomorrow Peyton starts daycare again for the first time in over a month. She is still signed up to go 3 mornings a week, but our 2 weeks in NL occured just before the 2 weeks that the daycare was out for the summer, so we've had a month off. I don't think she'll be too happy about going back, and I'm dreading the fuss I'm sure is coming. Sometimes I think I should just cancel it, but for sure I've noticed that I am getting a lot less done during the week since she hasn't been going!
