Another very delayed "part 2". When I wrote our entry Adoption Woes, I was leading up to some very big news, which is... that we are "expecting" again... in the USUAL way... by which I mean, yes, I am pregnant!
As I wrote in that entry on adoption woes, we were having second thoughts about adopting from China. We considered other options like trying to switch to a different country and so on, but it seemed like all these options would just take so long (you have to basically start the paperwork and approval process again, PLUS the wait time after that), and we were already concerned about the age difference between Peyton and her sibling. Nature helped in our decision by allow pregnancy #2 occur almost effortlessly, so that's that.
We are a little sad to be abandoning our adoption plan. It is what we always talked about since we got married. But, it just wasn't working out for us. We also only ever planned to have two children, but we have vowed that if we decide for some reason to have a third it WILL be adopted.
So, we are excitedly awaiting another newborn in our family! My due date is June 16th, so obviously this is not really NEW news. But with all our family being long-distance it was easier to keep it a secret for a long time in order to break the big news at Christmas time (just easier that way, with everyone together, no need to make a million different phone calls).
I am 19 weeks along right now. So far the pregnancy has been going pretty well. I had more nausea at the beginning than I did with Peyton, but that's over now. I have also had an array of various minor complaints, like a sudden appearance of some kind of strange eye allergies or something. It's probably not even pregnancy related, but just something to make my life a little more difficult! The good news is that at our midwife appointments everything's been going fine and the baby seems healthy. We've been listening to the heartbeat for a while now, and it started out at 152 which I think is the same as Peyton's was! I am growing a little faster than last time - I started wearing maternity clothes at 14 weeks whereas last time I think I made it to about 18 or 19. As with last time, we will probably leave the "boy or girl" news to be a surprise.
I'm not looking forward to giving birth again, but... well... I am keeping myself optimistic with the hope that it will be easier this time. Some people have told me the second time was easier. Maybe it's not realistic but I hope to keep myself inside this happy bubble until June. Ha ha. Maybe I will try some pain drugs this time, we'll see.
So, with our new house AND new baby happening about a month apart in June/July.... we're going to have a very busy summer!!!
