We got the call yesterday that our construction company, Tartan Homes, has finally received the building permit for our new house! They've been waiting on that to actually start construction. I asked, "So when will you start digging the foundation?" and they said, "Immediately." So that is good news!
We will have to drive by on the weekend (we pretty much do every weekend anyway) and report whether or not they actually have started digging. Hopefully they will have. They estimate 22 weeks to finish the house from the start of construction, so if they start this week they should be right on time to finish around the end of July. We were getting concerned when they hadn't started digging yet, that it was already getting behind schedule. But maybe we're alright after all! Hurray!
In other house-related news, we are hard at work making decisions about the house, like the exterior stone & siding package, the kitchen cabinet layout, locations of electrical outlets and phone jacks, kitchen appliances, etc. Other decisions on flooring and stuff are coming later. There are a LOT of decisions to be made! It is pretty exciting to imagine a house where all those choices are ours to make. Now if only the budget were limitless.....! :)

Janice - you are in for exciting (if somewhat stressful) times with your housebuilding project. Our building project is apparently on schedule for completion by the end of March - good thing because we have to move out of our house in View Royal. Please email or call me or Corey if you have questions about a lot of this stuff because we are just going through it. Are you going to do whole home audio? Corey is now an expert in that department.
