Christmas vacation has begun! We are leaving in a few hours to fly to Vancouver to spend the holidays with Ted's many families (on the coast and in the Okanagan), and also to see our Vancouver friends. I can't wait to see the ocean and eat at some of my favorite restaurants there. So to our Dallas friends - hope your holiday is great, see you next year. And to our Vancouver friends - see you soon!!!

Tonight Ted is baking cookies! Yes it's really true. He volunteered to bring cookies for a prize for the team that donated the most to a charity at work. We don't bake cookies here at the homestead very often (in fact I can't remember if we ever have before). So we had to call my mom to get her Shortbread Cookie recipe. And since it's so yummy and a seasonal favorite I thought I'd post the recipe here for all to share... and also so I can find it next time I want it! :)

The Great Saddle Search

I am happy to say that I think I may have found the perfect bike saddle! I've been looking for a while and tried a couple different kinds. This weekend I tried the Wylder Callisto saddle. I rode about 20 miles on it this weekend and I think it is THE ONE. There are a bunch of things I really like about this saddle, besides of course, the most important thing: comfort.

My mom's birthday was... ummm... Wednesday. Ooops. For some reason it was in my head that it was today. I guess not. Eeeeek, I feel so bad about that. I am a bad daughter. :( Why can't I remember stuff like that? I have always been bad at it and was trying to get my act together this year with Mother's Day and Father's Day and buying Christmas gifts on time. Well, 2003 is coming and another chance to get it all right. Anyway, Happy Belated Birthday, Mom.

New Search Script!

Announcing the update of the search script used here on brindleweb.com (see the text field and "search" button in the toolbar up top). Previously I used the Entropy search engine that came with my webhosting space, but... well... it sucked. So now I have installed and hooked up the WebSearch script and it seems much better.

Loooooong Weekend

American Thanksgiving was on Thursday (Nov 28). So this was a 4-day weekend here in the States. Our director gave us Wednesday off too, so we had a 5-day weekend - yippee! We have never been off for that long without planning a trip back to Canada, but this one kinda snuck up on us. What to do for 5 days in Texas? We decided to stick relatively close to home to save money.
