Hi... we are still here and we did celebrate Christmas in the Pottle/Stuchberry family! We had my parents and my sister (and my sister's dog) visiting for the holidays and it was a great time, but did not leave much time for getting on the computer.

Urban Living Woes

We've been living in this 100-year-old house in a "trendy" central area of Ottawa for a year and a half now, and I feel somewhat ashamed to admit that it's not working out the best for us. We thought we would settle in this house for the long run, but now we're rethinking that plan.

Fun in Ontario

We just had an 8 day visit from Ted's mom and sister during which we stayed in Ontario and had lots of fun. We spent about 4 days in Ottawa, 2 days in Sarnia, and 2 days traveling to and from Sarnia (it's a 7 hour drive).

Two fun bits of news from Peyton's world... First, she has a new tricycle! She's pretty young for it and doesn't pedal, but it has a push bar so it doesn't really matter. She gets so excited when she thinks about the tricycle and says, "Ride bike! Helmet!" The second bit of news, we spent the day Sunday building her a sandbox in the yard. It turned out really well and she loves that too. I just uploaded new pics tonight including ones of the new tricycle and sandbox, so check them out!

Stay-At-Home Mom

Lots of people are asking what happened with my job search, so here's an update. As of December 31 I am no longer a Nortel employee for the first time since 1998 (or before, if you count co-op terms), and I am now officially a stay-at-home mom, or SAHM as they say on the internet!

Just a quick note to say Merry Christmas! We're spending Christmas in Ottawa this year. We have my parents, sister, her boyfriend, & dog visiting. It is a full and happy house. I hope everyone else out there is having a wonderful holiday too!

Canadian Girls Kick Ass

I'm proud to say our little Texan is now officially a Canadian! She got her citizenship certificate Monday after only a few months of waiting - we were told it could be up to a year so that was a pleasant surprise! It looks so cute with the baby picture on it - and she's changed a lot even since then. She apparently will continue to have dual citizenship.

A Tree on our House!

Part 4 (did I say 3-parter? Well, LOTS of stuff has been happening). It was really windy yesterday. When Peyton and I returned from her doctor visit I was pretty shocked to find that we could hardly see the house from behind the branches of a huge oak tree on the neighbor's front lawn that had toppled right onto our house!

Part 3: yeah, I gave it away in the title. Yesterday, I thought Peyton's seeming "slightly off" had dragged on long enough and I took her to a doctor (just a walk-in, since we still have not found a family doctor willing to take on new patients in Ottawa).

Trip to St. John's

Part 2 of "Lots of Stuff Going On".... On Thursday (Sept. 22) I took off for a visit home to St. John's NL, my first attempt at flying alone with Peyton. It was a bit exhausting getting through security with her and all our gear, and also being the sole provider of entertainment during the flights. However, I think it went pretty well.

New (to us) Car!

Lots of stuff has been happening around here in the last week, so I think this will be "part 1" of a 3-parter! We've been wanting to buy a new vehicle before winter: something with 4-wheel-drive for the snowy winter ahead, and something with more space for the carseat, dogs, strollers, and lots of guests.

We are very happy to say that Peyton slept through the night for seven nights in a row. The eighth night (last night) she didn't quite make it but it wasn't too bad. I think we are on the right track though. We'll see how tonight goes!

We arrived in Ottawa on schedule about 2 weeks ago, but we've been really busy and also run into some "blips" getting our internet set up. That is all settled now, and settling into the house is coming along too.
