10.20.2004 10:08am - Back in the Saddle Comments (2)
On Sunday we went mountain biking at Erwin Park. I just did a short and easy loop while Ted watched Peyton. I am happy that I was able to do that only 8 weeks after giving birth though!

08.25.2003 10:50am - Busy Weekend Comments (0)
This weekend we were so busy with fun stuff and working around the house. Now I've been back at work for about 2.5 hours and I already feel like the week has been too long. I guess that's what happens when you don't get much rest on the your days off. Here's a quick recap of the weekend... ...more

04.14.2003 10:11pm - Golf Lessons & New Wheels Comments (2)
We have signed up to take some discounted golf lessons through work. Our first one was last Thursday (but I didn't get a chance to write about it yet). It went pretty well. The instructor seemed nice, knowledgable, and gave us some useful tips. ...more

02.03.2003 09:50am - Beautiful Weekend Comments (4)
We just had the most amazing weekend (weather-wise) here in Dallas. It was about 25 C each day and sunny, and with this nice warm wind blowing. I was hopeful that the weather might stay like that for a while, but it is supposed to start cooling off already today. ...more

01.27.2003 09:37am - When Good Skunks Go Bad Comments (4)
This weekend we went to Bar H Ranch for mountain biking. It was pretty fun, but very cold out! It hovered around 0 C all weekend... brrr. On Saturday night we went for a night-ride and took the dogs with their glowing collars. About halfway through a 5 mile ride Ted saw a skunk (but the dogs didn't, luckily) and we thought, "Oh my gosh, what would we ever do if the dogs got sprayed by a skunk, and we're way out here staying in the RV." ...more

01.13.2003 03:47pm - Snow in Texas! Comments (8)
Yesterday it snowed here! Probably only about 1 - 2 inches, but it was pretty neat. We hoped we might get a "snow day" today and be able to stay home from work, but no such luck. Unfortunately it was very wet snow and probably didn't help the mountain bike trails, some of which are closed right now due to mud. We did get to go biking Saturday after an approximately 3 week long hiatus due to rain and Christmas. ...more

12.16.2002 11:03am - The Great Saddle Search Comments (5)
I am happy to say that I think I may have found the perfect bike saddle! I've been looking for a while and tried a couple different kinds. This weekend I tried the Wylder Callisto saddle. I rode about 20 miles on it this weekend and I think it is THE ONE. There are a bunch of things I really like about this saddle, besides of course, the most important thing: comfort. ...more

12.09.2002 09:22am - Dallas Ultimate Winter League Begins Comments (8)
This weekend was the first week of the Winter League put on by the Dallas Ultimate club. It is the 3rd year for us being part of this league, although we plan to bike most Saturdays so may not play that much. This year the theme is the Simpsons, which means all the teams and are named with a Simpson's theme. My team is the "Krusty Komebacks". Ted's team is "Doh, A Disc, A Flying Disc!" ...more

12.02.2002 11:32am - Loooooong Weekend Comments (4)
American Thanksgiving was on Thursday (Nov 28). So this was a 4-day weekend here in the States. Our director gave us Wednesday off too, so we had a 5-day weekend - yippee! We have never been off for that long without planning a trip back to Canada, but this one kinda snuck up on us. What to do for 5 days in Texas? We decided to stick relatively close to home to save money. ...more

11.25.2002 10:26am - The Breaks at Bar H Comments (1)
This weekend we went to The Breaks at Bar H, a mountain biking ranch. What a concept! This place is a family-owned ranch (1100 acres) where they have dispensed with the cattle and the usual ranch-stuff - instead they have a network of mountain biking trails, which they charge a small fee to use, plus camping & RV sites! Wow! ...more

11.18.2002 08:38am - Night-Biking! Comments (0)
For our birthdays, Ted and I bought each other helmet lights for mountain biking. We got Lights & Motion Cabeza Logic lights. They came mail-order on Thursday, so on Friday we went to Erwin Park for our first attempt at night-biking. It was so fun! The lights were great, very bright and no problems. They will extend our "available biking hours" by quite a bit as it is getting dark at 6:00 - 6:30pm lately. ...more

10.21.2002 10:37am - Rain Rain Go Away Comments (1)
It rained like crazy on Friday. Now all the mountain bike trails are too muddy. Unlike Vancouver (where if you didn't ride in the rain you'd never go at all) you're considered a jerk if you ride in the rain here - because the soil is different, and you make big ruts and ruin the trails (apparently). So no mountain biking for us. How long will it take the trails to dry? And poor Ted so eager to ride his new bike. Bad timing! We did go biking Monday, Thursday, and briefly (before we were caught in the rain) on Friday. ...more

10.14.2002 01:44pm - Ted's New Bike Comments (3)
Hi! The big news for this week is... Ted finally got his new bike! He has been researching for about 2 weeks or so, test riding a few, looking on Ebay for good deals, etc. And finally lost his patience and just went down to the local bike shop (Plano Cycling & Fitness) and bought a 2003 Cannondale Jekyll 1000 (he got the grey color). Full Suspension and disk brakes. Sweeeeeet. ...more
