Although I have been totally slack about getting the 2006 pictures up on the web, I have just skipped ahead and uploaded some 2007 pictures (mostly because we're getting lots of requests for pictures of the new house progress). Check it out here in the 2007 album.

5 Years for Brindleweb

5 years ago today, on July 22 1999, brindleweb.com came on the scene! At that point it was really just a place to share pictures of my furry babies, and other pics, since most of my friends and family lived so far away. Before that I hosted my homepage on a few free sites like homestead and geocities, but got fed up with restrictions, lack of space, and especially ads. So I decided to register my own domain and pay for ad-free domain hosting.

Host Problems

Yesterday something funny happened to my website. It suddenly reverted to how it looked a week ago, Oct 16th, changes since then were lost. When I went to my host website they said they were "resolving to a new server". Luckily I had my own backup from Oct 22nd so I restored that.

Pool Volleyball & Text Messages

Nothing too exciting is going on in our lives lately. Over the weekend we spent a lot of our time doing much-needed pool maintenance. Our pool filter was broken, causing our pool to become green and slimy... yuck. So we fixed up the filter and got this all cleaned up on Saturday. By Sunday it was crystal clear and ready to go! The water is a good temperature right now, around 80-82 F.

Site Update: PHP

I guess I am behind the times. But last night I finally updated the whole brindleweb site (excluding the rescue site) to use PHP for all the main files. This allows me to use template (include) files for the common stuff like the header and footer, instead of having to cut & paste the same thing into all my HTML files. So, there may be some broken links or out-of-date bookmarks now. Let me know if you see any problems!

New Search Script!

Announcing the update of the search script used here on brindleweb.com (see the text field and "search" button in the toolbar up top). Previously I used the Entropy search engine that came with my webhosting space, but... well... it sucked. So now I have installed and hooked up the WebSearch script and it seems much better.

Whoah... this page looks different! I have decided to do some redesigning. It will probably take me a while to get to all the pages, for now I have only done this main page. Thanks for your patience in dealing with the different formats. I think when I get it all done it will be nicer and easier to navigate too.

Brindleweb is Back

Things have been pretty flaky around here lately, starting on Nov 1 when my web hosting company decided to charge me $120 for extra bandwidth use which was absolutely ridiculous. Looking at my stats I could totally see that this was wrong but they wouldn't believe me or look into it. So, after lots of arguing and the site being down for almost a week, I have now moved to a new hosting company. Hopefully things will work out better here. I had to restore from an old backup so I lost a couple of blog entries, sadly.

First Blog Entry

Hi....
This is my first attempt at a 'blog entry. I intend to write something here, my latest news or whatever, about once a week. I don't know if anybody will even be interested in reading this, so it is mostly just for "ME". I got the idea from Corey Scholefield ( coreman.com ) who was telling me about his 'blog this summer while we were in Tofino (see the pictures here at Tofino Pics. They're not all up there yet but hopefully soon.)
So I have finally decided to get off my butt and try to get my webpage up to date. I was inspired by my sister Susan ( Susan's Homepage ) who is very good at keeping her site up to date, it is so nice to check it out and see what she has been up to, her latest pictures of rock-climbing are COOL. Now that I think my knee is really back to normal (after surgery in April) I am hoping to take up climbing again soon. So hopefully I will do a better job keeping my site up to date from now on.
